Quote for the Week

One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again.

Not a rebuttal, just wondering where that falls on his hierarchy of needs? I suppose the top level, if you choose growth, as "self-actualization", or the fourth, if you choose safety/security.

Well, now, maybe this _is_ a rebuttal:

I'm not at all certain a desire for - if not necessarily a need for - security is tied to fear. Carrying a gun, for instance, is simply a matter of ensuring my security and that of those I love and/or choose to protect. There is no fear involved, just the presence of a tool that might be necessary to ensure that security, provide that safety. It doesn't impede growth in any way at all that I can determine.
