Strange Itch
Motorcycles have never drawn my attention before. My experience with them so far has been limited. I rode as a passenger one time. On a professional level, I once represented a commercial vehicle driver who was charged in an accident that resulted in the death of someone on a motorcycle. That's a story for another day. Other than that, nothing. No experience or opinion.
Well, recently, I've had the itch to get a motorcycle. Not sure why... Maybe it's the gas prices, maybe it's the trek between offices, maybe it's a pre-mid-life crisis. Not sure what it is, but I now find myself looking at motorcycles online and researching everything about them.
Maybe I just need a trip to the gun range to relieve built-up stress

Time for Celebration and Continued Prayer
I don't normally blog on Sundays. Even the quote for the week is usually submitted the night before, timed to appear early in the morning.
But, this is cause for celebration. This has been a subject of my prayers for a long time.
Continue to pray for wisdom for the police, investigators, prosecutors, judge, and jury who may eventually hear this case.
And above all, pray for Bryan Stow and his family. I don't know him, but that does not matter. He did not deserve this.
Arresting these corwardly, spineless, pathetic wastes of oxygen is only the beginning. Get them all and get them for good.

Rapture Tonight
I am a Christian. To that end, I want to extend a helping hand to those who believe the rapture is tonight. If you still have possessions or money in your bank account, it shows an alarming lack of faith in your leader's prophecy.
To that end, let me help you with your piety. Please give me all your money and possessions. I will use your stuff for my own heathen use and spend your money for you. Since you will not be here tomorrow, you won't need it.
Please don't thank me. It's a burden, for sure, but one I will gladly bear.
Oh yeah, and when you wake up tomorrow morning, do your best to stay out of sight. We Christians are eminently capable of embarrassing ourselves. Since you have just accomplished that, don't make it worse.

Reminder
I'm not 19 anymore.
Last Sunday, I decided to play basketball with some friends at the church picnic. Shortly after starting the third game, I came down a little off balance and sprained my ankle. For a brief moment I was able to see into the depths of the universe. Or maybe it just felt that way. I saw stars, the moon, and several other things I couldn't identify.
I hobbled off the court and limped back to the picnic tables. Thankfully, nothing was broken, although it appears to have been a grade two sprain. The ankle is still a bit tender, but most of the swelling has gone down. I can't wait to get back to working out, but will now have to consider a brace that will handle all the bouncing and jumping around.

Janitor or CEO?
Leadership principle from Steve Jobs.

As a leader, the reasons for failure do not matter to those I have failed. So, when I look for leadership potential in employees or volunteers, an excellent indicator is when they stop giving reasons for failures and instead work to avoid or fix them.

Wow...
Looks like Hero Builders has gone off the deep end. They have created an action figure of President Obama as a SEAL. A Team 6 SEAL.
This is a President that ran a campaign criticizing the military and its mission.
This is a President that has led a Justice Department bent on prosecuting American soldiers as war criminals.
This is a President that has demonstrated disdain for the Second Amendment.
Now, I understand that the President had nothing to do with the making of this doll (or at least I HOPE he didn’t), so I don’t direct this at him. But, really??!!
I mean, this action figure represents everything the President is not, and a lot of what he has opposed.
Heck, if he was handed the rifle, he likely wouldn’t know what to do with it, except try to ban it.

Coming to a Doctor Near You
A new survey released yesterday by the Massachusetts Medical Society reveals that fewer than half of the state's primary care practices are accepting new patients, down from 70% in 2007, before former Governor Mitt Romney's health-care plan came online. The average wait time for a routine checkup with an internist is 48 days. It takes 43 days to secure an appointment with a gastroenterologist for chronic heartburn, up from 36 last year, and 41 days to see an OB/GYN, up from 34 last year.

A Different Perspective on The Pet Goat
I just read this article on former President Bush's reaction after learning of the September 11, 2001 attack. As we know, he continued reading for the students, even after learning of the attack. While most leaders would know not to panic an audience in an emergency, many criticized Bush for not reacting sooner.

Respect
If I could have your attention please! I'd like to interrupt recent news of bin Laden's fatal lead allergy. You can get back to your celebrations shortly.
While watching the marriage of people we will never meet, and celebrating the delivery of long-awaited justice, we missed this gem from the Journal of Animal Ethics (a joint waste of time, money, and resources put out by Oxford University's Centre for Animal Ethics and the University of Illinois Press):
[W]ords like “pests” and “vermin” should be dropped altogether and “pets” replaced by “companion animals”, while “wild animals” should be termed “free living or free ranging animals”.
So, my dog cares what I call her...hmmm...interesting...Really?
Actually, this is just another pile of bovine alimentary waste byproduct. The idea that my dog (or any PET) cares what I call her is ludicrous. It's as if some want to devalue humans, by insisting that we share the same level as animals.
Well, that's not happening here. I love and appreciate pets. However, at home, they are at the bottom of the totem pole. Our dog has a routine, there are places where her "business" is acceptable, and places where it is not. There are behaviors that are tolerated, and those that are prohibited. She's allowed in some places, and cannot enter others--even without a gate to stop her. Rules for her are different than rules for us, and that's the way I like it.
Oh yeah... and what do I call her?
